History of the Paris Trône funfair

More than a simple fair, it has become an institution. The Trône fair is considered the oldest fair of France ! Its origins go back to year 957 when King Lothaire decided to create a fair to authorize the saint Antoine abbey to sell a specific kind gingerbread. Hence the fair’s nickname of “gingerbread fair”.

At the beginning the fair was taking place where the Place de la Nation is today. It would go along the cours de Vincennes to the Place du Trône (hence its name). In 1965, the fair had become so huge i twas decided to move it to the boarders of Paris, on the pelouse de reuilly near the Vincennes parc. The number of visitors has now increased to 5 million! (almost as much as great Parisian monuments)

It offers more than 350 atractions. Merry go rounds and rides of many different kinds among which 50 are for kids ! You will alos find all the classical fair arctivities such as game stands, hot dogs, merguez, balloons etc.

The fair has strict security measures as much for its large family public as for the respect of the environment.
